Blog 2 Organizing an Outstanding Classroom Library

I loved the ideas that were described in this chapter about organizing your classroom library. I have already begun placing some of my books on a table each week for the students to see when they come into the room. They cannot wait to see the ones I have chosen. They quickly grab a book to read or to share.  Of course it has been easy since the books have been seasonal.

Book baskets, on the other hand are a work in progress. I do not have my books labeled by genre, author, fiction, or non- fiction, but I do have them labeled by subject matter. I have an assortment of books magazines and now toy catalogs for Christmas fun. As I read and research, I plan to decide which organizational system will be most beneficial to me and my students.

  1. Reeda, for kindergarten I like that you have them organized by topics. I think young readers understand that system and know where to look for something they are interested in. I love the enthusiasm you are seeing when students look on the new book table!
