Linda Burrell's November BLOG- "Share Your Reading Life"
From Routman's book in chapter 3, she lists a lot of ideas to use to share your love of reading with students. As a kindergarten teacher, I share my love of books with them often but it it mostly the books that they would enjoy. Pete the Cat, Clifford, and Froggy are some of the favorites. They could care less about WHAT I am reading, although they may be interested so see some of my books and know that I do read LOTS. Encouraging and modeling book "now" books, "next" books and "last favorite" books is something I had not considered teaching. I think I'll give it a try along with sharing some of my personal library of books, by photo, and by bringing some to show. I always have a "next" book. They need to also, even if it's from the book basket at school.

Linda, so true! We forget sometimes that we are models for our students in many ways--not just modeling lessons. Just the students knowing that we have reading lives will be a great example, and your sharing yours with photos and examples will make it even more powerful. Thank you, Linda!
